Siracusa Tour

escursioni siracusa

Syracuse (Ortigia’s Island)

(Departure at 09:00 – Return at 15:00)

Syracuse is one of the most interesting cities in Sicily in terms of artistic and cultural heritage. Cicero himself said Syracuse was “the most beautiful and largest of all Greek cities” and was declared a UNESCO World’s Heritage Site.

The fame of Syracuse is mainly linked to the Greek era in which it retains many testimonies; such as the Neapolis archaeological park (where it is possible to visit various sites such as the ear of Dionysus), or the ancient Greek Theater (where classical theatrical performances still take place today).
After the Neapolis archaeological park, it is the turn of the Ortigia’s Island, where we find the remains of the ancient Apollo’s Temple. But the pride of  Ortigia’s Island is the spectacular Piazza Duomo, along with the Cattedrale della Santissima Natività di Maria. Other places to visit are the Castello Maniace, Fonte Aretusa, Diana’s Fountain, and Alfeo seafront.

Syracusa (Ortigia’s Island) + Noto

(Departure at 09:00 – Return at 18:00)

Our tour continues towards Noto, a city defined as “the Baroque’s Capital”, which was declared as UNESCO World’s Heritage Site in 2002 (as well as all the other late-Baroque cities of the Val di Noto). The historic center has some splendid examples of late Sicilian Baroque such as the St. Nicolò’s Cathedral and St. Domenico’s Church. Very interesting is the monument that characterizes the entrance of the city; the Porta Reale (Royal Gate), built-in 1838 to honor the arrival of Ferdinand II of Bourbon in Noto along with a statue that later on became a war memorial.

Noto + Marzamemi

(Departure at 09:00 – Return at 18:00)

The last stop is the charming seaside village of Marzamemi, here we can admire the historic “Tonnara diMarzamemi”, a building that dates back to the Spanish domination in Sicily in 1600.
Worthy of note is the ancient processing systems of fish, such as the bluefin tuna bottarga, processed using handcrafted ancient drying systems from the Arab-Phoenician culture.
